Our Doctors
Dr. Ian Scholer
D.V.M.
Originally from Augusta, GA, Dr. Scholer graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing a rotating internship in surgery, internal medicine, and emergency care, he decided the CSRA needed his skills—and, of course, his wife, Megan, and their four kids (because it’s always better to raise a small army of future veterinarians in your hometown).
Dr. Scholer’s professional passions include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, endocrinology, and helping train and develop the next generation of veterinarians—because let’s be real, someone’s got to teach them the ropes (and maybe share a few doctor jokes along the way).
When he’s not saving lives or mentoring the future of the field, you’ll find him grilling up something delicious, spending quality time with his family, playing video games with his kids (he’s probably winning), reading a good book, or kayaking—because every vet needs a good way to unwind, right?
Dr. Kristen Greene
D.V.M.
Meet Dr. Greene, a true Augusta native who’s been calling this city home since childhood. After earning her degree from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), she crossed paths with her husband, Travis, and together they decided to return to Augusta to build their careers and raise their four wonderful children.
Dr. Greene is deeply passionate about ensuring patient comfort, always striving to make each visit as stress-free as possible for your furry friends. With her gentle and caring approach, she’s the go-to veterinarian for anyone looking for a little extra love for their puppy or kitten—expect lots of cuddles during your pet’s visit!
When she’s not working her magic at the clinic, Dr. Greene is fully dedicated to her family. She’s actively involved in her kids’ academics and hobbies, from supporting them at school events to cheering them on at sports games. Managing a busy family life while offering exceptional care to her patients, Dr. Greene is the perfect blend of warmth, compassion, and organization.
If you’re looking for a veterinarian who will take the time to comfort and cuddle your pets, Dr. Greene is your go-to. Just don’t be surprised if you leave with a little extra love for yourself too!
Dr. Tristan Carver
D.V.M.
Meet Dr. Carver, originally from Irmo, South Carolina—yes, Irmo! He earned his degree from the University of Georgia in 2015 after completing a Master’s in Biology, so you can bet he knows his way around the science of life.
Dr. Carver and his wife, Carly, made the move to Augusta to build a life together with their two sons, Owen and Logan. As a veterinarian, he’s passionate about client education and takes great pride in knowing that clients leave his office feeling more informed and empowered. For
him, it’s all about ensuring you not only understand what’s happening with your pet’s health but also feel confident in the care they’re receiving.
When he’s not at the clinic, Dr. Carver enjoys reading, hitting the gym, and tending to his ever-growing collection of plants (he’s got a green thumb, too). He loves spending time with his family, building strong relationships with his church community, and, of course, staying active in all the things that make life full and rewarding.
Dr. Carver is the veterinarian who combines knowledge, compassion, and a little bit of humor, making sure you and your pet get the best care—and maybe even some plant advice on the side!
Dr. Midori Munnerlyn
D.V.M.
Originally from Atlanta, GA, Dr. Munnerlyn’s love for her family takes her on frequent trips to keep those relationships as healthy as the pets she cares for. After all, maintaining family bonds is just as important as maintaining a healthy pet!
She earned her veterinary degree from Ross University in Saint Kitts, graduating in 2023, and she’s been on a mission to make the world a better place for animals ever since. Dr. Munnerlyn has a special passion for oncology and soft tissue surgery—so your pets are in excellent hands if they need care.
When she’s not helping pets, Dr. Munnerlyn can be found roller skating like it’s still the ‘80s, soaking up the sun on the Caribbean Islands, or checking out art festivals for some much-needed creative inspiration. If there’s a fun adventure to be had, you can bet she’s already planning it!
Dr. Omega Hammerling
D.V.M.
Originally from the Charlotte, NC area, Dr. Hammerling graduated from Ross University in Saint Kitts in 2014 and has since been making her mark in veterinary medicine. Her passion? Internal medicine, endocrinology, and making sure clients are as well-educated about their pets as they are about their favorite TV shows. (She’s pretty good at it, we promise.)
When she’s not saving the day with her veterinary expertise, Dr. Hammerling is at home enjoying some downtime with her husband and two beautiful daughters—because who says you can’t juggle family life, a passion for baking, and helping pets feel better all at once?
A true Disney and Golden Girls aficionado, she might just drop a “Thank you for being a friend” reference when you least expect it. (We can’t confirm or deny.) And when it comes to dogs, she’s all about Golden Retrievers—because let’s face it, who isn’t?
Our Staff
Alexis
Meet Alexis, our Practice Manager and Registered Veterinary Technician—she’s the one keeping the wheels turning and the hospital running as efficiently and smoothly as possible! Chances are, she may have even scheduled your pet’s appointment or the nurse taking care of your furry friend during their visit—she’s truly a part of every aspect of the hospital! Alexis earned her degree at Athens Technical College but received most of her hands-on experience at the prestigious University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Go Dawgs!). A native of Augusta, she’s got a soft spot for the desert, probably because it’s as unpredictable and adventurous as she is. Alexis is truly passionate about delivering exceptional nursing care, ensuring that every pet she treats is comfortable, well-cared for, and—most importantly—not left to suffer. When your pet is under her care, you can be confident they’re receiving nothing less than the royal treatment. Outside of work, Alexis and her husband are travel enthusiasts, constantly exploring new destinations, hiking scenic trails, and, of course, hitting the gym—because who says you can’t be fit and fabulous? When she’s not working on her fitness or planning her next adventure, you’ll probably find her strolling her five chihuahuas in a stroller (yes, five—living her best life as a proud pet mom) along the trails. And let’s not forget about her sense of humor—Alexis is the one who keeps the hospital laughing with her quick wit and, let’s be honest, some questionable singing. While she may not be a Grammy contender, that won’t stop her from belting out a tune for all to hear (don’t worry, she’s got the confidence to match it). Alexis believes in the success of those around her, encouraging both personal and professional growth. She’s the glue that holds the hospital together—whether it’s through her leadership, her compassion, or her infectious laughter. She’s the person who makes everything run smoothly, all while making sure everyone enjoys the ride.
Erin
Meet Erin, originally from the Metro Detroit area, who earned her degree as a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2012. After taking a detour through San Antonio, TX, she settled in Evans in 2015 and has been enjoying life in the Augusta area ever since. Erin’s professional passions include shelter medicine, rehabilitation, and emergency care. But what truly lights her up is client education—helping pet owners understand the “hows” and “whys” of proper pet care. After all, the more knowledge you have, the better care you can provide, and Erin’s all about making sure clients leave with more than just answers, but a deeper connection to their pets’ well-being. When she’s not busy being an awesome vet tech, Erin enjoys reading, solving puzzles, and pretending to be crafty (don’t judge her hot glue gun skills). She’s a plant lover with a green thumb, a gardening enthusiast, and a self-proclaimed foodie who’s always on the lookout for her next delicious meal. Erin is a proud wife, mom, pet mom to 4 children, 3 dogs and 3 cats, and here’s the kicker: 3 of her animals are living life with missing limbs. Talk about resilience and love! She’s also a fan of exotics—meet her rose hair tarantula and her ball python named Jeff Bezos (yes, her son is the mastermind behind that name). Whether she’s caring for her furry and scaly companions or helping your pet recover, Erin brings heart, humor, and a whole lot of expertise to everything she does.
Lauren
Meet Lauren, one of our skilled Registered Veterinary Technicians with a focus on surgery. If your pet’s ever needed surgery, there’s a good chance Lauren was the one providing them with top-notch care, ensuring they’re comfortable and in great hands throughout the entire process. Originally from New Jersey but raised in sunny Florida, Lauren started out in interior design. But after her own pets inspired a career shift, she made the leap into veterinary medicine in 2021. She’s now certified in alternative pain management, including CBD protocols, because she’s all about providing your pet with the most comfortable care available. When she’s not in the operating room, Lauren enjoys spending time with her country-man and their three kids. She also loves heading back to Florida to visit family, relax at the beach, and ride side-by-sides through the muddy Georgia trails (because a little dirt never hurt anyone). And, as a huge Florida State fan, you can bet she’s always cheering for the Seminoles, no matter where life takes her. Lauren is a wonderful, dedicated veterinary technician who’s committed to providing the safest, pain-free, and stress-free surgical experience for your pets. So, if your furry friend ever needs an operation, you can rest easy knowing Lauren’s there, bringing her expertise, compassion, and maybe even a little adventure along the way!
Paige
Meet Paige, one of our incredible Registered Veterinary Technicians! A proud Evans native, Paige is often found in surgery or providing expert nursing care in the treatment area—she’s got the skills and dedication to match. Paige has a deep passion for large animals, especially horses, and horseback riding. So if you ever need some equine wisdom, she’s your go-to! When she’s not caring for pets in the clinic, Paige is at home on the farm with her husband, their many animals—cats, pigs, chickens, and horses—and their newest addition, her son Ivan, who’s already becoming a little farmhand in the making. Paige brings an infectious, larger-than-life personality that brightens the day of everyone around her. Her energy and enthusiasm are truly contagious, making her a joy to work with and leaving clients with a smile every time.
Lindsay
Originally from Puerto Rico, Lindsay has been making her mark in veterinary medicine for over 4 years. She recently earned her veterinary technician license and is now a crucial part of our nursing team—basically, she’s the go-to person when your pet needs TLC (and trust us, they love her for it). Lindsay isn’t just about pets—she’s also got a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, because why not have a passion for saving the planet while saving pets, too? Her professional focus is all about patient care and making sure every pet feels their best. Outside of work, Lindsay is all about spending time with her family, traveling, and getting outdoors—whether it’s hiking, exploring new places, or just enjoying the sunshine. She’s also on a mission to teach her fellow team members new Spanish words (because who doesn’t want to know how to say “puppy” in another language?).
Dawn
Dawn is all about educating clients and teaching them how to provide the best care for their pets. With over 10 years of experience working with animals, she’s seen it all, from the tail-wagging to the fang-bearing (and everything in between). When she’s not helping clients understand their pets’ needs, you’ll find Dawn geeking out over laboratory diagnostics. Yes, she actually loves lab work—it’s her version of a good time. She’s worked with a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, snakes, ferrets, and even bearded dragons. So, chances are, if it has scales, fur, or feathers, she’s already on a first-name basis with it. In her free time, Dawn enjoys indulging in video games—because, apparently, saving virtual worlds is just as satisfying as saving real-life pets. Oh, and did we mention she has three black belts in martial arts? So, if you ever need someone to protect your pets… or the remote control… Dawn’s your gal.
Anja
With over 30 years of experience working with animals, Anja is practically an animal whisperer. Originally from Germany, she’s got a lifelong passion for Rottweilers, and she’ll happily tell you all about it (just be ready for a Rottweiler-related fact or two… or ten). When she’s not training animals or solving behavioral mysteries, Anja is busy being the proud mom of three sons—proof that she’s a true multitasker. She also loves the beach, where she spends her downtime soaking up the sun. With her background in animal behavior and training, Anja’s the expert you can turn to for all things animal-related. Just don’t ask her about Rottweilers unless you’ve got a few hours to spare!
Becca
Meet Becca, born and raised in Augusta, GA, and your go-to expert for building strong relationships with clients and educating them on how to care for their pets. She’s got a heart for animal welfare, and it shows in everything she does—whether she’s answering your questions or making sure your pet is happy and healthy. Becca loves spending time with her family, which includes her husband, son, and soon-to-be baby girl. She’s got a pack of 3 dogs—Belle, Kaylee, and Hudson—and 2 cats, Grizzly and Poppy, keeping her busy (and providing endless entertainment). One of Becca’s true passions is horseback riding, and here’s the fun fact—she was a competitive horseback rider growing up! She’s got some serious equestrian skills, so don’t be surprised if you catch her riding off into the sunset someday. Whether she’s spending time with her family, her fur babies, or educating clients on pet care, Becca is all about creating meaningful connections and making sure pets get the love they deserve.
Amy
Meet Amy, a true Augusta, GA native who’s been in the veterinary world since she was 15 years old—yep, she started as a kennel assistant before most people even knew how to spell “veterinary.” With a background in social work, Amy is a passionate advocate for positive mental health and self-care—because let’s face it, everyone could use a little TLC, especially when life gets stressful! While you might not always see Amy up front, you can bet she’s behind the scenes as a circulating surgery nurse, working closely with our Registered Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians. She’s the one keeping the surgical area running like a well-oiled machine—so if you happen to wander too close, don’t even think about touching anything! Amy’s got everything under control. When she’s off the clock, Amy is all about spending quality time with her two sons, Brandon and Kyle. Whether it’s hanging out or just making sure everything’s in order at home, she’s on top of it. Amy is incredibly attentive to the pets she handles, always making sure they’re as comfortable as possible. She’s constantly learning and improving her skills, because in her world, there’s always room to grow—and maybe a few more surgical tools to organize. Amy’s the kind of person who’s always caring, always learning, and always keeping things running smoothly—just don’t mess with her surgical area!
Dylan
Meet Dylan! He joined Hill Top Animal Hospital in the summer of 2021, bringing his passion for animals and his knack for biomedical engineering to the team. Originally from Evans, GA, Dylan is currently in his first year at Georgia Tech, pursuing a degree in biomedical engineering with plans to dive into the fascinating world of Neuroprosthetics after graduation. Though Dylan is a part-timer, he can’t help but look forward to his weekend shifts, using them as a well-earned study break from the rigors of college life. When he’s not working or studying, you’ll likely find him immersed in his hobbies—whether it’s 3D printing, traveling the world, or rocking out on the drums. He’s also a proud pet parent to two playful Boxers, Brooklyn and Lexi, as well as Gracie, a cat who has a special connection to Hill Top as the former clinic cat. An avid adventurer, Dylan has swum with sharks, manta rays, and a variety of other marine life, proving he’s just as fearless in the water as he is in the lab. While he’s still working on mastering the art of juggling engineering equations and animal care, Dylan is clearly living life to the fullest—and we’re lucky to have him as part of our team!
Kayla
Meet Kayla, our science-loving, pet-adoring veterinary assistant from Evans, GA! She’s been part of the Hill Top family since Spring 2019 and is currently taking her passion for animals and medicine to the next level, working towards both a master’s in comparative biomedicine and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Georgia. Kayla is a self-proclaimed science nerd (in the best way possible!) with a deep love for medical sciences, but what truly melts her heart is seeing the incredible bond between pets and their families. When she’s not at the clinic, she’s probably hanging out with her two dogs, her cat Gracie (yep, that Gracie, the former clinic cat), a horse, and her koi fish. She’s definitely a true animal lover—though she might maybe have a few battle scars from the job. In fact, she’s been bitten by a bobcat, an alligator, and a horse… thankfully, not all at once! Outside of the animal world, Kayla loves painting, crafting, traveling, and trying new foods. If you ever need a buddy for an adventurous culinary experience or a crafting session, she’s your girl. Just don’t ask her to paint a horse after a bite from one!
Addison
Addison is a relatively new face in veterinary medicine, starting her career nearly two years ago. But don’t let her time in the field fool you—she’s already a pro at learning all the ins and outs of different small animal breeds. She’s especially fond of Dachshunds (it’s not hard to see why—just look at her adorable Dachshund, Moose, who may or may not think he’s the office boss). When she’s not cuddling with Moose, Addison enjoys hiking, soaking up the outdoors, and dancing like nobody’s watching. Addison is on her way to becoming a future Registered Veterinary Technician, and we’re pretty sure she’ll be a force to be reckoned with. Whether it’s caring for your pets or out dancing on her day off, Addison brings energy, passion, and a love for animals wherever she goes!
Lynsee
Meet Lynsee, originally from Reno, Nevada—the land of endless desert and, apparently, a future filled with veterinary greatness. She kicked off her career in Nevada before making her way to Washington State and eventually finding her way to the heart of the South in Evans. There, she started in emergency and critical care as a receptionist, and with her undeniable charm, quickly worked her way up to becoming a veterinary assistant. Lynsee is now on track to earn her veterinary technician license, proving she’s in this for the long haul! Lynsee’s professional passion? Snuggling puppies and kittens, of course! She’s practically a professional cuddle enthusiast, and she’ll happily snap a selfie with any little furball that crosses her path. Watching them grow and thrive is what truly fuels her love for the job. When she’s off the clock, you’ll find Lynsee soaking up the sun, hitting the gym, or jamming out to country tunes at a concert—she’s got a major thing for George Strait (you might even catch her serenading her two four-legged “kids,” Charlie and Bow, who travel everywhere with her. And yes, everywhere includes road trips, vacations, and probably even to the store). Lynsee may not have human kids, but she’s a proud pet mom to Charlie and Bow, and they’re her ride-or-die companions. With a passion for animals, an eye for adventure, and a love for George Strait, Lynsee is the perfect mix of caring professional and fun-loving country girl. Just don’t try to take a selfie with her pups—you might have to wait your turn!
Ashley
Meet Ashley, your go-to veterinary expert with 20 years of experience under her belt—because who doesn’t trust someone who’s been around long enough to see all the pet craziness unfold? She started her career wrangling large animals (mostly equines), then galloped into the fast-paced world of emergency medicine, working alongside a board-certified surgeon. After a few years of adrenaline-fueled action, Ashley decided she had found her true calling in general practice, where she found the perfect blend of heart and healing—her “niche”. Ashley’s passion for veterinary care is only matched by her love of building strong relationships with both clients and their pets. Communication is her superpower, and she prides herself on creating lasting bonds with the two-legged and four-legged members of any family. When she’s not saving lives or comforting worried pet parents, you’ll find her hitting up the gym, escaping to the beach, conquering mountains, or spoiling her beloved Boxer, Kimber, who undoubtedly believes she’s the real boss. Oh, and if you’re a Gators fan, you’re in good company—Ashley is one too! With two decades of experience, a heart for animals, and a sense of humor, Ashley is the Veterinary Assistant you can count on. Because when it comes to your pet’s health, why settle for anyone else when you can have the best?
Jessica
Meet Jessica, originally from the heart of Alabama—Roll Tide! She’s no stranger to change, having traveled the country thanks to her husband’s military career. Jessica kicked off her veterinary journey in 2019 in Washington state, but eventually made her way south to Georgia, where she’s now proudly part of the Hill Top family, making a real impact as a true team member for nearly a year. Jessica’s passion for veterinary medicine is all about educating clients, keeping pets’ teeth sparkling (because who doesn’t love a dog with smell-good breath?), and strengthening the powerful bond between pets and their people. When she’s not at work, she’s indulging in her creative side, making everything from soaps to candles to lotions—because who doesn’t love a little DIY self-care? She’s also known to jump in the car and make her way to Alabama or Tennessee to visit family, where she probably gets spoiled with some Southern hospitality. At home, Jessica is ruled by three pets: Winston, Arthur, and Ada—who are, without a doubt, the true kings and queens of the household. With her passion for animals, her love for learning, and a knack for crafting, Jessica’s the veterinary assistant who’s always ready to teach, care, and maybe even offer you some handmade soap on the side!
Taylor
Taylor’s adventure in veterinary medicine started just over a year ago, and she’s already on track to become a licensed veterinary technician. Before diving into the world of animals, she was a college athlete—so if you ever need someone to sprint across the clinic or throw a ball for your dog, she’s your girl! What truly gets Taylor’s tail wagging (pun intended) is not just caring for the pets, but showing their owners how much the whole team genuinely cares about both their pets and their experience. She’s soft-spoken and sweet, but don’t let that fool you—when the music starts, Taylor is ready to break into a dance number or belt out a song like she’s auditioning for a Broadway show. Outside of work, Taylor is all about hitting the gym, staying active, and crushing her workouts. But her interests don’t stop at fitness—she’s also fascinated by learning about new cultures and picking up new languages. So, when she’s not working on her squats, she’s working on mastering “hello” in five different languages. Who says you can’t be strong and multilingual?
Myah
Meet Myah, our newest addition to the Hill Top family, originally from the land of cheese, brats, and Go Pack Go! (yes, she’s a proud Packers fan). She made the big move to Georgia in 2018, and although she’s still relatively new to Hill Top, it’s safe to say she’s already fitting in like a pro! Now, she’s tackling her dreams head-on, currently working toward a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, with a special soft spot for cats—because let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to specialize in feline royalty? When she’s not busy tackling school, she’s at home with her own little fur-and-scaly family—two cats (probably plotting world domination), two dogs (being the lovable chaos-makers they are), and a lizard (because why not?). Outside of animals, Myah is all about hitting the gym, soaking up the outdoors, and spending quality time with friends. If you ever need a workout buddy or a cat expert, she’s your girl—just be prepared for some intense feline-focused conversations. She might even try to convince you that cats rule the world (and she’s probably right).
Candace
Candace is our go-to for client satisfaction, and she’s always ready to brighten your day with a joke or two. Originally from Nashville, TN, she’s got a love for music that doesn’t stop at country tunes—she loves to sing (and yes, she might belt out a tune if you ask nicely). When she’s not spreading joy at work, you’ll find Candace reading, spending quality time with her family, or enjoying the great outdoors. She’s the perfect balance of fun and focus, with a passion for making clients feel heard and valued. Candace is a firm believer that a little humor goes a long way, and if you ever need a good laugh—or a sing-along partner—she’s your girl!
Erika
Originally from South Carolina, Erika is the friendly face you’ll see greeting you at the front desk as our receptionist. Her goal in veterinary medicine is simple: to help clients and their pets while keeping things running as smoothly as possible (because efficiency is key, right?). Outside of work, Erika loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and their soon-to-arrive baby girl. Her family keeps her busy, but she still manages to make time for one of her biggest passions—reading. When she’s not chasing after little ones, you’ll find her curled up with a good book. Erika is dedicated to answering your questions and ensuring your pet’s well-being as the friendly face of Hill Top Animal Hospital.
Mackenzie
Originally from Virginia, Mackenzie has been making her mark in veterinary medicine for the past four years. She’s passionate about all things plants (seriously, if it has leaves, she’s obsessed), horses, and curling up with a good book. When she’s not taking care of animals or nurturing her growing plant collection, Mackenzie and her fiancé love to hit the trails for a hike or plan their next travel adventure. And here’s a fun fact: she’s currently on a journey to re-learn sign language—because why not add a new skill to her already impressive list of talents? With her love for learning and a knack for caring, Mackenzie brings her A-game to everything she does—whether it’s saving the plants or helping to save a pet!
Boo
Bio Coming Soon!
Tish
Morticia, or “Tish” for short, found her forever home at Hill Top in 2020 after coming in from the shelter with an injured tail. The doctors decided the tail had to go, but she got to stay—a deal she fully approves of! She spends her time zooming around, causing just the right amount of chaos, and cuddling up with Dr. Hondrum for the best pets. While she prefers to stay behind the scenes, rest assured, she’s always keeping an eye on things!
