PETSIMONIALS

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We have four animals and I know they will be well cared for when we visit. The best veterinary practice in the area by far!

Christine Kim

Best Vet I've ever been too. Clean, friendly staff, made us feel like family.

Maranda Ellis

The veterinarians and staff are very compassionate and the environment is warm and very very clean. The boarding experience has been stellar as each pet has a spacious suite or large run with nice clean bedding to rest on. My pets, Max and Abi seemed so calm when we picked them up... like they didn't want to leave. I highly recommend Hilltop for all of your pets/people 🙂

Dr. Ian Scholer

D.V.M.

Dr. Scholer was raised in Augusta (but he usually leaves out the fact that he was actually born in Rochester, NY while his father completed his post-doctoral studies in Endocrinology). He is an alumnus of Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, the University of Georgia College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduation from the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine, he stayed on at UGA and completed a rotating internship in Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Emergency and Critical Care before accepting a job at a busy veterinary practice in the Atlanta area. While he was there, he met and fell head over heels for Megan, a high school teacher who was way out of his league. Eventually his persistence paid off and she agreed to marry him. They moved to the CSRA in 2010 and have both worked in the area since then. Together they have two young sons (Jax and Mick), two mutts (Jersey and Abby), and a very tolerant cat (Richard Parker). Dr. Scholer’s professional interests include Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Endocrinology. When he’s not at Hill Top, he enjoys dining out with his family, grilling at home, and exercising (mainly to counteract the first two hobbies). He prefers Coca Cola over Pepsi, Xbox over Playstation, and The Beatles over Elvis.

Dr. Kristen Greene

Dr. Greene has lived in Augusta since she was a little girl. She is an alumnus of Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School, the University of Georgia College of Agriculture, and the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.

During her undergraduate studies at UGA, she met her future husband, Travis Greene. In true fairy tale form, it turned out that Travis was from the same hometown, but they had to travel to Athens, GA to finally meet (which isn’t all that surprising seeing that so many great things have started in Athens). After she graduated from UGA Vet School in 2012, they returned to Augusta where Dr. Greene began practicing veterinary medicine and Travis studied physical therapy at the Medical College of Georgia. They have a sweet little girl (Ella), three dogs (Marley, Abbie, and Bailey), and a cat who thinks he is a dog (Oliver).

Dr. Atkinson was born and raised in Augusta, GA. He is an alumnus of Lakeside high school, Georgia Southern University, and the Inaugural Class of Lincoln Memorial College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Atkinson met his wife, Ashley, in high school and both completed undergraduate studies at Georgia Southern University. He and his wife later traveled to Tennessee where Dr. Atkinson attended veterinary school and his wife completed her nurse practitioner degree. They returned to be with family and friends back in Augusta after school. They have a wonderful little boy named William and lab/shepherd (Hunter) and Belgian Malinois (Odin) at home. Dr. Atkinson’s professional interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and client relations. When he is not at work, he enjoys being outdoors with his family and pets. He enjoys grilling, boating on the lake, hunting, horseback riding and traveling.
